# Data Manipulation (DML)

Data Manipulation Language (DML) statements read and modify the data held in
*Kinetica* tables. Use **INSERT** to add rows, **UPDATE** to change existing
rows, **MERGE INTO** to conditionally insert, update, or delete rows in a single
statement, and **DELETE** to remove rows.
